LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The FTLO Volleyball Association and the Boba Community League acknowledges that it is situated on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish Nation), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation).

We are grateful to the Indigenous Peoples for letting our organization and players, the majority of us being visitors and immigrants to this land, have the opportunity to play the amazing sport of volleyball. We recognize the tragedies that took place at residential schools through out Canada and understand the importance of educating ourselves and our fellow Canadians about Canada’s dark historical participation in discrimination, racism and genocide of Indigenous peoples.

The FTLO Volleyball Association believes that all people have dignity and so we support the work that is being done by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission to share the many Indigenous stories that have been unheard in the hopes of bringing healing and closure.
